In conjunction to the disk peppermints. I do believe my mare Sassi likes the traditional Christmas ride we go on. It may not be long, but it is tradition. All the horses also get a kick out of "opening" their presents..Usually a box of cookies a piece..
I think, what my horses like the most about Christmas is tearing the green garland down off of their stalls, and sneakily getting the treats out of their stockings. LOL They aren't spoiled at all...
Happy Horsie Holidays!
What my horses like most about Christmas is..
standing out under the stars and lookin up on Christmas eve as Santa and the reindeer fly overhead and wish them a Merrrrrry Christmas!!!

What my horse likes most about Christmas... is Dashing thru the snow
still trying to win.. :)
If I change my avatar pic everyday does it get me entered more?? lol
....it's pouring, the old man is snoring. He went to bed and bumped his head and couldn't get up..................
well, around these parts he couldn't get up all winter! :) What do my horses like for Christmas? The days it doesn't rain in the winter... (Sat was a perfect day for once). Then they come out of their shelters and out from under the trees...the pasture with no shelter, those ponies get their bikies off and everyone stands in the sun or finds a semi dry spot and rolls and rolls and then snooze in the sun.... then we riders come along and take them to the beach (too muddy and slick elsewhere) and they get to go for a good run, a hoof cleaning in the water (salt water is a great thrush fighter/deterent and sand polishes all the crevices in the frog and sole) and a good roll in the scrubby sand at the end of the ride......
anything food related.........and loves trotting around with his friends in the snow. All our photos are on our Facebook page
My horses like the little candy caned flavored little peppermint disks. They CHASE ya for em...
Still trying to win again! Sigh
My horses love that I am home during the day.
I vote for Cheyenne (cheychey01) & Keno!!
arrived today...of course the horses most likely do not think so, but we got out catalog order in, which included wormers (so they all got hteir winter worming today) and vet wrap, gauze, etc to replenish all the first aid kits....a great christmas gift for the ponies :) ANd the new horse that arrived from Canada today, got a great gift as well...his feet were in atrocious shape, so I gave him a new set of hooves today. Took 3 hrs to trim him (he was BARELY halter broke and that was it, so he had to learn it was ok to get feet handled and trimmed), but now he can walk and run and play without his feet hurting :)

my horse likes all the extra time i have to ride him over winter break. especially in the snow.
All my boys like the extra treats in their feed tubs on Christmas, as well as the extra time I spend just petting them!
Carrots & apples are extra special on Christmas for the kids at the barn.

Oh c'mon Santa Baby (or Ms. Clause in this case!) won't you put some horsehair under my tree for me? To share with others is such a treat! So put some horsehair under my tree, you'll seee...just how generous of a cowgirl I can be.
My horses LOVE pooping in the heated water buckets...they enjoy laughing at me...unhook them...bleach them...(when it is FREEZING!)...and rinse them....again and again...
I usually have about 3 a day...and my stalls are 14 by 17...it isn't like they are crammed...they do it on purpose:0)
They also enjoy a carrot a day! YUM! and the daily massages...wow, I want to be my horse!
Kathy:-)
what my horses like about hte holidays? Looking cute in holiday decorations for annual pictures! Ok, maybe THEY don't really like it (they think those wreathes are PRICKLY and all those ribbons are goofy!), but I sure love playing dress up with them :)
ME! it's me! LOL..I should hire Storm out as a model...isn't he too CUTE!? He went to the bodyworke today (got pics of COURSE) and is feeling SOOOOO much better...we fixed all the bad stuff his "show training" with big bits, ventroflexed riding and weird training devices (like shackles) messed up. Now I can work on rding him more and getting gait WIHTOUT gimmicks (was afraid to really do too much til he got fixed). Whoo hoo!
I take my oldest equine friends who have been with me forever and we walk up the hill and viset our friends that have passed, every eve we hang wind chimes throughout the trees.its sooths the soal and my horses love them.and for me keeps those who have crossed over company on long cold nites. thats what we do on christmas eve. music from the angles play over the graves of my best and dearest friend....always.....merry christmas my babys..we miss you...

Happy horsie Holidays.
My horse doesn't have a long list for Santa this year. He is somewhat humble in THAT regard. He is delighted just to have some, (a bag or two, just kidding!), of his favorites- peppermints! That's why his alias is the Peppermint Pony! And I'm grateful to have him...
I think what my boy will likes most about Christmas is all the extra time I get to spend with him. He is part of my family and that's what's important especially around the holidays.
He'll get all sorts of extra goodies, treats, scratches, etc. . . He won't know what Santa brings him until early Christmas morning.
Happy Holidays!
This will be my boy's second Christmas....so I'm not sure what his favorite part is yet. He will get a warm mash, lots of love and extra wither skritchies though...especially since I have almost 2 weeks off of work and will have plenty of time to give to him :)
What my horses like the most about Christmas is that I am off work and get to spend more time with them. They all get brushed and lots of extra special treats. Even more than that , I am sure they love when I dress them up in santa hats and bows and take their pictures. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/calicocalgirl/14-2.jpg (not sure if this will post or if you can click on it)
They love all the attention they get on Christmas....extra yummy hay (G/A instead of just Grass), extra carrots and apples, pepermints, etc... yum!
My horses love all the extra treats my mom brings them ,carrotts, apples ,baked goodies ,and mrs.pastures treats all stuffed in their own stockings hung in the barn.

Happy Horsie Holidays Santa xxoo
I am a woman in my 50's and purchased my first horse about 2 years ago. I hadn't been able to ride before because of allergies. So, I just love this Boy! I am fortunate enough to board him, where he was born, at this wonderful place, about 1/2 hour from my home. I have not been able to get the the barn in the early hours of Christmas morning, but, my barn owner fixes all the horses a wonderful warm Christmas breakfast. I like to picture all those fuzzy, magnificent creatures enjoying this treat, and imagine the wonderful sounds of peaceful, contented ponies eating, and their beautiful faces showing how they savor every drop!!!
The horses' favorite thing about Christmas would have to be getting to see the 3 year old little girl in their lives. She loves them and they love her. Only getting to see them a few times a month, every Christmas she comes with a smile and a special treat for each one of them!
he goes with the wrinkly peppermint wrappers!!!!
well, THAT'S easy.....peppermint candies!! BUT WAIT...they must be wrapped in that most delicious sound...plastic wrapper!!!! they just aren't the same without the crinkly build-up!!! :)
Today's entry...a post I just made on a freind's wall on Facebook. The simple secret to life is to BE HAPPY. Of course it is one of those things that is so easy it is almost impossible. We all make a million excuses about why we can't be happy (lack of money, job, health issues, whatever), but as the Buddhists discoverd so long ago and still practice, happiness IS a state of mind. I find myself being depressed or abgry all the time too, of course, but then I think about where my life COULD be or how bad it COULD get from here, or make a change in my thoughts by figuring out why I am mad or sad right now and realizing it is a trivial thing.... All I really have to do, is go out, look at my horses (or pics of them, or even before I had horses of mine, just pics of ANY horses running happily across a field or whatever), and my face immediately gets a smile on it and my heart goes all warm and fuzzy...then I see that look, I am HAPPY...even for a moment, so it IS a choice and it IS "that easy"....from that point on I am happy again...til the next episode of being mad or sad, then I just repeat that simple exercise... It works, try it! :)
My horses get excited for Christmas because of all of the scratches, treats, and surprise gifts (usually more treats!)
Granny Smith apples and Ms. Pasture Cookies. What I like most about Christmas with my horses is waking up in the morning and going out to feed them. I love this time with them. It makes every morning seem like Christmas morning! Thanks so much for your Secret Santa note. xo Sharon Bryant
Please bring us lots of snow so we can justify the $145 for snow pads and cleats lol
What my horses love most about christmas is the snow!!! This is their first year ever seeing it. They played for hours, pony*not pussy* footing it around trying to figure out what that white crunchy stuff was that had stuck all over thier feather. sticking their muzzle in it and having a white mustash stuck on thier lip and then running away as fast as they could. The snow maybe thier favorite thing about x mas but watching them have fun in it is mine :D
My baby's name is Desiree. She is 5 yrs old. I hung some small bells around the paddock and she loves to walk past them and rub her face on them. I don't think she is doing it for the noise but more so for the feel of them. She and my daughter also like to share candy canes. Not too much for either of them cause they both get tummy aches. She acts just like a kid when we get her involved with christmas activities when others visit.Thought about hanging misletoe above her stall but afraid she might try to eat it.
Post for today! Same as yesterday! Hoping for some horsehair gifts to share with friends!

The big 30lbs bags of carrots I buy at CashNCarry for them...mmmmmmmm..great treats for the next week :)
